Brent Copeland Sprange, 41, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 28th, 2014. Brent was born in Greensboro, NC on May 8, 1972. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Mary Elizabeth Gaines of Bowling Green, KY, Margaret and Walter Sprange of Toronto, Canada and his beloved aunt, Sharon Hatton also of Toronto, Canada. Brent served as a paramedic in Greensboro, NC prior to attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he graduated cum laude in Biology. Following UNCG, he went to East Carolina University to pursue his career in medicine. For the last 10 years, he practiced as a Physician's Assistant in the Asheville area. Brent is survived by his wife, Reeves Anthony Sprange and two daughters, Lucy Gaines and Violet Elizabeth; his mother, Rianna and George Philpott; his father, Walter James Sprange and Sheila Ramdewar, and his brother Scott James Sprange. He is also survived by his two step sisters; Sarah Coggins and her husband, Trent, and Mary Philpott and her husband, Mark; his parents-in-law Burwell and Patt Anthony; brother-in-law, Rob Anthony and his wife, Jen; sister-in-law, Boyd Long and her husband, Josh, and many nieces and nephews. He will always be known for the love he had for his family, friends and career. Brent was a devoted father and husband. Reeves, Lucy Gaines and Violet were the light of his life. He was an amazing story teller and the love he exuded for his family and friends was extraordinary. He will be remembered for his remarkable sense of humor and fierce joy in competition. A funeral service will be held at Central United Methodist Church in Asheville on Tuesday, April 1st at 3 pm. Visitation with the family will precede the service from 1:30-2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, there has been an educational fund established for Lucy Gaines and Violet in honor of their father.   5. Brent and I grew up together in Greensboro. He was one of my best friends during my teens years and although I have not spoken with him in year my heart breaks for him, his family and friends. I have fond memories of him coming over to join our family in game night.

  21. Rianna, I was shocked and greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Brent. Brent was a role model for many of those he met and I admired his tenacity and spirit.
