Asheville ~ Brian K. Holt, 43, of 14 Shelby Drive, Asheville, NC passed away on Monday, March 20, 2006 in the John F. Keever, Jr. Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. Brian is survived by his wife of 20 years, Terry Hill Holt, son Daniel, age 12 and daughter, Sarah, age 4, of the home. He is also survived by his parents, Bert and Maxine Holt of Statesville, NC; brother, Darrell, and his wife Lisa, nephew Justin and niece Amber also of Statesville. Brian leaves behind many extended family, friends and co-workers to cherish his memory. Born on April 10, 1962 in Spartanburg, SC, Brian graduated from Statesville Senior High in 1980. A graduate of East Carolina University, he concentrated in the area of finance with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Brain was employed with Hometrust Bank of Asheville since 1987, most recently as Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager of the Weaverville, NC branch. He was involved in the Mortgage Bankers Association of Western North Carolina, holding the position of president in past years. Brian also held membership with the Asheville Board of Realtors and Home Builders Association, as well as, consistent support of our local United Way. Brian and his family are members of the Presbyterian faith. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 22nd at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road in Arden. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. For friends of Brian’s family in Statesville, a memorial service will also be held there at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23rd at the First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brian’s honor to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Bldg.1 Asheville, NC 28801, for lung cancer research or to the Around the Son Preschool Scholarship Fund at Skyland United Methodist Church, 1984 Hendersonville Road Asheville, NC 28803 or to your local hospice center.

  2. I am very sorry for your loss. I knew Brian through the mortgage industry via Mortgage Bankers, etc. What a wonderful person. I am so sad to see him go so early but he is going to a wonderful place. May he be at peace with the angels.

  3. I did not have the pleasure of working with Brian here at HomeTrust. However, I do know that everyone he touch loved and appreciated him. What a great legacy to have that kind of impact on people. My family prays for the Holt kids that God will give them assurance.

  23. I’ve known and respected Brian for years, and have missed his wisdom, competence and courteous manner ever since his illness kept him from work. He was a joy to get to know.
