Bruce Hampton Emory, 84, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at his residence.
A native of Buncombe Co., Bruce was the son of the late Arnold Emory and Dorothy Emory Queen.
Mr. Emory proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He later retired from the United States National Climatic Data Center after 32 years. In retirement, he and his wife, Betty, worked with Axis Entertainment Security & Event Staffing for 15 years. Bruce will be remembered as an intriguing and influential man. He was curious about everything and loved to learn as much as he could about many tasks and topics. His curiosity inspired curiosity in others to enrich their own lives.
He is survived by his wife, Betty R. Emory; son, Michael Dean Emory; and step-son, Terry Lane Ballard.
The funeral service for Mr. Emory will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

Bruce was always a pro to work with. He loved supporting The Mountain Music Festival at the NC Mountain State Fair. He smiled biggest when his bride was on his golf cart with him. He looked out for you at Civic Center events, a great man. Praying for peace and comfort for his family.

Bruce, I will miss the man who guarded the back door at the Sherrill Center basketball games. We had many a conversation about life and work. I am sad to see another good man leave this Earth. I’m so glad I had the privilege of knowing you and Betty.
