Bryson Perry Ruff

Gerton - Bryson Perry Ruff, 84, of 25 Pump Lane, Gerton, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, in a Buncombe County health care facility. A native of Polk County, he was a son of the late Larkin Jessie Ruff and Leona Collins Ruff and husband of the late Sally Ownbey Ruff, who died in 1994. He was an Army veteran of W.W. II, a member of Bearwallow Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Gerton Volunteer Fire & Rescue Dept. and was a retired woodworker and carpenter. He is survived by two daughters, Maxine Buckner of Spartanburg and Hazel Lyda of Gerton; a son, Joe Russell of Hendersonville; four grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday in the Bearwallow Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Revs. Thomas Sherwood, Bobby Dees and Don Freeman. His family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Monday night at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cemetery Fund of Bearwallow Baptist Church, 20 Pump Lane, Gerton, NC 28735.
