Buck Edwin "Sonny" Gaston, 81, died Thursday, November 19, 2015, at CarePartners Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Gaston was the son of the late Clarence Perry and Lois Carter Gaston. He worked with American Enka for 37 years, most recently in the Security Dept. He was a lifelong member of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church and faithfully attended the Tuesday morning Prayer Breakfasts at Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Hominy Lodge, A.F. & A.M. and a member of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife, Norma Lance Gaston; daughters, Cathy Watkins and Wanda Gaston; great-granddaughter, Shana Marie Franklin; sisters, Martha G. Nall (Jerry) and Nancy G. Brookshire (Cliff); and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. David Morgan officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.   4. I was surprised to see this announcement about Sonny. I worked with him in Nylon Quality Control many years ago. Sonny was always in a good mood. I was pleased to see him and Norma 4+ years ago when my husband died. I returned to the Candler area two years ago.

  10. Norma, we are sorry to hear of Sonny’s passing away. We always thought he was such a wonderful person and the same every time you saw him. We can’t be there today, but you are in our thoughts and prayers.
