Guestbook

  1. Dear Gloria and family, the Asheville community has lost one of our most humble servants. All the way thru Hall Fletcher and Lee Edwards, Buddy was always willing and able to help anyone with any problem they might have. He could hit a baseball or softball or pass a football further than anyone I know. Strong as an ox, but a gentle Soul!, Went to church with the whole family at Craven St. And Westwood Baptist for many years. Buddy is in Heaven right now with so many family members and family. Praise God🙏🏼

  2. I am so sorry for the loss of this wonderful man. He was a man I truly respected. One in a million. I met Mr. Roberts when he was working out of his basement. My husband at the time was Michael Swanger and he introduced us. He had been very special to Michael, someone he could look up to. We all need a Buddy Roberts while we are growing up. He was just that to Michael and a lot of kids on the Westwood neighborhood.

Soooooo many memories in the West Asheville community on a street called Worley Place especially with all the kids that live there. We rode our bikes from one dead end to the other and Buddy and Gloria was always sitting on the front porch keeping an eye on us kids. I’m praying for Gloria and each of the family members that you will heal through this sad time. Knowing that Bubby was a great man.I know that he is in heaven and that he’s going to be missed here on earth.

  20. Gloria, Brent and Barry, Delores, too,
So very sorry to see that Buddy had passed. Gloria, I know you will miss him terribly. I am so glad that we became friends while he and Daddy (Oie Hall) were roommates at Aston Park. We always had some good conversations and connected just like we had known each other for years. Buddy always had such a sweet, sweet smile and said “be careful” every time I would leave. Please know that you are in my thoughts at this time. I know he and Daddy are in heaven right now talking about cars. Hopefully our paths will cross again.

  21. Praying for the entire Robert’s Family Buddy was a Good man with a kind and gentle Heart. He was a great Boss/Employer. He helped me when times were tough. My sincerest condolences. Russ

  22. I knew Buddy Roberts from Parkway Business Machines years ago and also at his car repair business. He was a good friend and always shared his tomatoes with me he grew outside his office door. He always had his favorite dog under his desk. We will miss him very much.

  23. Sandra and I just want to tell Gloria, Brent, and Barry just how glad we were in our lives to have know Buddy and all of you. We do not get the paper and only found out about his passing after the fact. His passing brought back some great memories. It was my pleasure to have coached Barry and Brent in their days playing little league baseball in West Asheville. Buddy and Gloria were always there supporting them both. After the games we would go over to Buddy and Gloria’s house and enjoy being with each other. Buddy used to talk about how he loved refurbishing cars and finally started his own very successful business. Buddy had a great sense of humor and was so proud of his two boys. Time has a way of putting some memories in the back ground, but when we heard of Buddy’s passing, those great memories came right back. I was dating my wife when she met Buddy and Gloria, I will never forget that Gloria told me “you had better marry that Girl”, which was very good advice! Gloria, Barry, and Brent, we love all three of you and wish you the best. You had a great dad and he will be missed

  24. Gloria. I did not know Buddy as intimately as others, but I do know the family and what his support meant to me. I grew up on Fairfax and worked with his mom at Singer. I also coached his sons in West Asheville Little League. Buddy was one of the first parents who chipped in to buy McDonald’s meals the team went to get after winning a game and you and Buddy came to my wedding in 1974. My thoughts are with you and your family.
