Buster Newitt Roberts, 73, of 21-A Smith Road, Leicester, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Hospice Solace Center with his friends and loved ones by his side.
Mr. Roberts was born in Madison County and grew up in Black Mountain. A son of the late Charlie and Hattie Correll Roberts, he was also preceded in death by his sister Ruby Roberts.
A former automobile mechanic, he retired from Charlotte Street Gulf. Mr. Roberts was blessed with a talent for music and helped with the music at Redmon Baptist Church where he was a member. He loved his brothers and sisters in Christ but the children were special because they called him "Uncle Busto".
Survivors include a brother, Woodard Roberts and his wife Patsy of Asheville; two sisters, Stella Riddle of Asheville and Patricia Ruth Whittaker and husband Tony of Boynton Beach, FL, several nieces and nephews and his friend and caregiver Vergie Revis.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday at Redmon Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Hopps officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

(I love you,too, Buster) I am so sorry I will miss his funeral and a chance to meet the family I haven’t met. I wish I had seen him just one more time. He was such a good Christian man and we all loved him. Allen will be there for visitation but I am out of town.

I remember when you lived across the road from us on Lytle Cove Road in Swannanoa. Your happy smile and Christian ways will always be remember by us. You have recieved you reward. Our love and prayers. are with the family.
