C. Michael Verble, 74, of Asheville, NC went to meet Jesus on March 22nd, 2024.

Born in the summer of 1949 in Anna, IL, Mike was the firstborn son of the late Carl E. and Jane Verble. With lifetime accomplishments too long to list, Mike made a positive impact on an untold number of lives. Known for his generosity and perseverance, Mike overcame every obstacle and met every challenge in life with the tenacity and the persistence of a champion.

Mike and his wife of 58 years, Kathy, were married in 1966, and the same year they welcomed their eldest son, Brian. Mike graduated from North Central High School in 1968. He and Kathy then attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. While at university, Mike worked for Carl E. Verble and Associates and learned skills in frame carpentry and commercial and residential construction. After graduating from Indiana University, Mike and Kathy raised their family in Carmel, IN.

Their son, Todd, was born in 1972, and daughter, Katy, in 1975. Mike built and sold custom homes in Carmel, IN as his livelihood during the 1970s. Mike was Senior Vice President, and later became owner, President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of North American Roofing Systems. Over decades, Mike employed thousands of people and provided a livelihood for multitudes of families.

In 1997, Mike founded Home Depot Installed Products. Other businesses he founded include NorthStar Building Services, eShopWorld, and RainTree Music Group. Mike had a love of music, especially classic country and The Beach Boys, and would enjoy playing, singing, and recording music until the end of his life. Mike and Kathy also loved and raised many dogs in their homes over the years. In the early 2000s, they bred and raised several champion Irish wolfhounds, and owned and showed the #1 Irish wolfhound in the nation. Mike was also an artist, a talent he inherited from his mother. Many of his original paintings and artwork grace the walls of his home and the homes of his children.

Mike was diagnosed with stage 4 Cancer in 2017 and given one year to live. Mike fought and lived an incredible 6 years and 8 months past that diagnosis.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Carl E. and Jane Verble, his father and mother-in-law, Buck and Mary Zeigler, and his brothers-in-law, Kurt Lemay and Tim Zeigler.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathy, and their children, Brian(Aimee), Todd(Ginger), and Katy(Mike), 5 grandchildren, Michael(Anna), Sarah(Davis), Jacob, Kora, and Hannah, “bonus” grandchildren include Michael, Danny, Brooke, Isaiah, Evan, Megan and Chloe, 2 great grandsons born just before his passing, Eli and Zayden, a sister-in-law, Susie LeMay(Joe Ketterman), a brother-in-law, Jeff Zeigler(Cynthia), 5 nieces and nephews, and many other loved cousins, family, and countless friends.

Mike believed in and witnessed more than one miracle in his life, events which deepened his faith in God and Jesus’ power to heal.

A private celebration of life will take place on April 20th, 2024 for family and loved ones.
