Calvin Edward Meece, 64, of Mills River died Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Pardee Hospital. A native of Bladen County, Calvin was raised in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Johnny and Dorothy Hudson Meece. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Bill Meece. Calvin was a 1971 graduate of T.C. Roberson High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was an avid sports lover and was an avid fan of The New York Yankees. He was also a lover of NASCAR. Surviving is his wife, Linda Ruth Roberts Meece and a daughter, Tiffany Sunshine Meece. Calvin adored his two dogs, Precious and Sophie. A graveside service for Calvin's cremated remains will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Avery's Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Frank Ramos will officiate. Military honors will be performed. The family will receive friends following the service at Avery's Creek United Methodist Church. Linda would like to express her appreciation to CarePartners and Bayada Home Health Care for the excellent care they gave to Calvin during this past year. Memorials may be made to CarePartners P.O. Box 25338 Asheville, N.C. 28813. Groce, Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  4. I do not think I ever saw Calvin that he did not have a smile on his face. It hurts to hear of his passing. God be with you Brother!

  5. Linda my prayers are with you. Calvin was such a loving person. He never met a stranger. I will always remember our meals at 980 that he prepared for us. The thing that I remember most about Calvin was his love for you. He always brought you a Birthday cake to work so you could share with everyone. What can I say he was a special man.
