Carl Daniel Maynard

carl maynard
Carl Daniel "Danny" Maynard, 65, of Asheville, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the Charles George VA Medical Center. A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Maynard was a son of the late Carl Thomas Maynard and Aretta Rose Jackson Maynard Lamb. Mr. Maynard was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War. Later in life, he retired from Ball Bros. Manufacturing Co. where he worked for 25 years. Mr. Maynard was also a member of Seacoast Church. In his free time, Mr. Maynard loved to fish, go on Harley rides with his family, and most of all, play with his grandbabies. He was the best husband, father, and Papaw that any family could ask for. You may be gone from this world, but we know we'll meet you again. He is survived by his wife, Pat Maynard; daughter, Sabrina Michelle Moore and husband Robert; son, Danny Maynard and wife Teresa; sisters, Karen Lee and Ann Williams; brother, Ronnie Maynard; grandchildren, Jarrett Ryan and Alexis Michelle Moore; and numerous other family members. A memorial service for Mr. Maynard will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with Rev. Craig Snook officiating. The North Carolina Honor Guard will perform military honors. His family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Maynard would always prefer to give to others rather than receive for himself, so his family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Valor Hospice, VA Community Living Center, 1100 Tunnel Rd., Asheville, NC 28805, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
