Carl Joseph Keller Sr.

Carl Joseph Keller Sr, 88, of Fairview, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023.

A native of Avery County, he was a son of the late Dan and Sylena Andersson Keller. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Christina Arrowood Keller and three siblings, Robert Keller, Nancy Thompson and Mary Ellen Clark.

Mr. Keller is survived by three children, Carl J. Keller, Jr (Selina), Christa Lance (Lewis) and Cindy Mullinax (Jason); three grandchildren, Jessica, Tyler and Alyssa; one step-grandson, Nathan Mullinax and several extended family and friends.

Carl enlisted in the Army after high school at the age of 18. He married the love of his life, Christina Arrowood on May 26, 1957 and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage. He served in the Navy Reserves for 20 years and worked in the supply department at the Charles George VA Medical Center for more than 25 years. He loved to sing and was a song leader at various churches, as well as a member of a quartet and was faithfully involved with the youth choir at Nazarene Church. He also enjoyed golf. Carl was a very happy person and cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held starting at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Fletcher First Baptist Church with Pastor Harry Widener officiating. The family will greet friends at Fletcher First Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 3:00 PM. Flowers are appreciated, but memorial donations may be made to the Fleshers Fairview Employees Appreciation Fund (3016 Cane Creek Road, Fairview, NC 28730). A private burial will be held at Hoopers Creek Cemetery.
