Carl William Gillespie

November 30, 1910 ~ May 10, 1999

Carl W. Gillespie, 88, of 133 Tracy Grove Rd., Hendersonville, formerly of Leicester, died Monday, May 10, 1999.

A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late William K. and Susan Smith Gillespie and husband of the late Christine Hawkins Gillespie who died in 1975.

He is survived by four daughters, Carlene G. Maney of Arden, Joan G. Lanning of Hendersonville, Annette G. Mays of Asheville, Saundra G. Patterson of Spokane, Washington; a brother, Sam Gillespie of Warner Robins, GA; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue with the Reverend Bill Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
