Caroline (Carol) Ann Vogel, 80, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Manistee, Michigan, Carol was the daughter of the late Floyd and Julia Swanson Buckner and was predeceased in death by her sister, Audrey Raatz. She was employed as a secretary for several years and was a member of the Skyland United Methodist Church. She loved solving sudoku, was an avid hiker having completed the 40 peaks of the South Beyond 6000, and was the family chief financial officer. Carol is survived by her husband, Dale A. Vogel, two daughters, Terri Vogel Kelly (Mike) of Boca Raton, FL., Sandy Locascio of Dallas, TX. and a son, Scott Vogel (Ingrid) of Austin, TX. She is also survived by a sister, Viola Buysman of Rancho Cucamonga, CA., one granddaughter, Caroline and two step-grandchildren, Julia and Vincent. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013 in the Pulliam Chapel of Givens Estates. A reception will follow the service. Memorials may be made to the Givens Estates Residency Fund 2360 Sweeten Creek Road Asheville, N.C. 28803 or to CarePartners P.O. Box 25338 Asheville, N.C. 28813. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
