Carolyn Barlow Young passed away at CarePartners Solace wing in Asheville, North Carolina on Friday October 6, 2017. She was surrounded by love and God’s light. Carolyn, aged 73, was the beloved wife of Peter Francis Young. She now joins him in heaven to continue their eternal love. She is survived by her loving son and daughter, James Barlow Young and Jennifer Young Rollins and her husband, J.P. Rollins, and two granddaughters Olivia and Ava Rollins. As a mother, she was devoted and loving. She taught her children by example to love and respect others. She was retired from the University of North Carolina at Asheville where she was loved and respected by her co-workers. Carolyn was born in Wilkes County, NC to the late Sarah Ruth Bentley Barlow and James William Barlow. She lived in Rockford, Illinois for 22 years before returning to her home state. She attended Ragsdale High School, Jamestown, NC and Guilford College. She will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts and memories forever. Besides her son and daughter, she is survived by a sister, Louise Barlow Marley and two brothers, Ted Barlow and wife Pattie of Greensboro, and Lester West and wife Susan of Boomer NC. She was preceded in death by her parents and both maternal and fraternal grandparents as well as two brothers Jimmie Eugene Barlow and Rex William Barlow and two sisters Rachel Claudette and Violet Amelia Barlow. Visitation is at Groce Funeral Home in Asheville on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 6 to 7 pm. A service will be held at 11 am on Monday October 9, 2017 at the Groce Funeral Home Patton Avenue Chapel, with interment directly following at Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to CarePartners Hospice Solace Center, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Friends are invited to attend a reception later at a time to be announced.
