Carolyn Bruce Penland

Carolyn Bruce Penland, 87, passed away on Wednesday September 7, 2022 at Mission Hospital.

Carolyn was born August 16, 1935 in Asheville, NC. Carolyn was the oldest of six children, three preceding her in death.

Carolyn married Charles Penland November 25, 1957. They were blessed with four boys, two who preceded her in death, Don and Ray.

Carolyn leaves behind her beloved husband Charles; son Ed and wife Tina and their sons, Dustin and Danny (Melissa); son Bruce and wife Brenda, their daughter Brooke and her children Bella, Brooklyn and Gianna and a son Trevor Lowe; sister, Pat Felkel and her daughters Diane and Davita (Johnny) and their families; sister, Jackie and Don Warren and their daughters Kim and Danelle and their families; and all of her beloved family members including many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Carolyn was loved by so many. She loved to spend time with family and always had a smile on her face.

She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was always thinking of others first. To know her was to love her.

The funeral will be held Monday, September 12 at Groce Funeral Home, 1401 Patton Ave, Asheville at 11:00 a.m. Their will be a brief graveside service following at Blue Ridge Gardens in Pisgah Forest, NC. Visitation is Sunday, September 11, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carolyn’s life.
