Carolyn J. Hughey

Carolyn J. Hughey of Asheville went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2024, after an ongoing illness. She was the daughter of the late R. Glen and Madge P. Hughey. She graduated in 1956, with the first graduating class of A.C. Reynolds High School. She also completed a business course at the Woman’s College in Greensboro, NC. Miss Hughey was employed for 31 years at General Motors Acceptance Corporation.

She is survived by her sisters, Gail H. Simpson and Rebecca H. Wright (Bob), both of Asheville, NC. She is also survived by a nephew, Brian Simpson (Jennifer) of Addison, TX; and three nieces, Janeen Simpson, of Los Angeles, CA, Angela Padgett (Tim) of Apex, NC, and Melissa Wright, of Asheville; her grandnieces and grandnephews, who were the loves of her life: Brandon Padgett of Washington, D.C., Joshua Padgett of Cary, NC, Hunter Wright of Cary, NC, and Mackenzie Davies of Leicester, NC, Kate Simpson of Addison TX, and Mis Padgett of Apex, NC.

At the request of Miss Hughey, there will be no services. Memorials may be made to MANNA Food Bank or ABCCM.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.
