Carolyn Ward Ivey, 83, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
A native of Buncombe Co., Carolyn was a daughter of the late Charles Sylvester and Annie Hensley Ward. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Graham Douglas Ivey; sister, Anna Mae Worley; brother, Charles Ward; and grandson, James Lee Smith.
Mrs. Ivey was a member of Hominy Baptist Church and was instrumental in creating their DayStay ministry.
She is survived by her son, Carl Redmon (Linda); step-daughter, Susan Smith (Jim); grandson, Charles Redmon; granddaughter, Bridgett Smith Helm (Daniel); and great-grandchildren, Luke, Ben and Cameron Helm.
Her family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3, at Hominy Baptist Church, Candler. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Pastors Melissa Hughes and Dr. Paul Raybon will officiate. Burial will then follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hominy Baptist Church DayStay Program, 135 Candler School Rd., Candler, NC 28715.

In the very beginning of the DayStay ministry, had it not been for the significant efforts of Carolyn, and two or three others, it would never have lifted off. And now, more than two decades later, it continues ministering to some of the most vulnerable. Thanks be to God for sweet Carolyn.
