Carrie "Mae" Taylor Ratcliff, 96, died Wednesday at the Western Carolina Baptist Retirement Home. Mrs. Ratcliff was born May 30, 1913, in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late B.G. and Lillie Snelson Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Woodrow Taylor and the Rev. Carlos Ratcliff, by a son, Wyman Taylor, and by seven brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and William H. "Bill" Teague of Leicester; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Arville and Pearlie Ratcliff of Leicester; a grandson, Michael Teague of Raleigh; step-granddaughter, Cindy Faulkner and husband Rick, of Asheville; and two step-great-grandsons, Jason and Jonathan Faulkner. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Anthony Fox, Don Austin, and Stan Welch officiating. Interment will follow at Redmon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Redmon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Mike Stapleton, 22 Star Road, Marshall, NC 28753. The family extends special appreciation to the nursing staff of the Rickman Center for the loving care they provided for Mrs. Ratcliff.
