Catherine Michele Hill, 62, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 25, 2022.

Catherine was born September 10, 1959, in Mons, Belgium to Monique Fosset Redant and the late Andre Redant. She was educated and raised in South Africa and moved to the US with her husband, John Hill in 1986, and to Biltmore Lake in 2019. Mrs. Hill was a former school teacher and former flight attendant. She loved landscaping and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, John Hill; her son, Adam Hill and his fiancée, Elizabeth Egan; her mother, Monique Redant; a sister, Dominique Beraud and a brother, Etienne Redant.

A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Fr. Dean Cesa at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to PAWS Animal Rescue or to the Asheville Humane Society.

Even though we were neighbors for just a few years, Cathy (and John) were so warm and welcoming that it felt like we’ve known them forever.   20. I remember a time back in Aurora, Indiana when Cathy, John and I were attending mass at St Mary’s Catholic Church when Cathy had to make an announcement from the pulpit. As we were all walking out of mass she said “I felt like everyone was just looking at me” and she didn’t understand. I said ” Well Cathy, they were looking at a beautiful blond lady with a sexy South African accent”. I didn’t need to say more…then… or now. Just that I love her and Brother John so very much. May God bless them both.

I can’t imagine how difficult this time must be for you all, but know that we are all here for you, and thinking of you. Miss Cathy was a wonderful lady, and we were always so excited to see her when she visited South Africa. I fondly remember our visit to the states, and a super stay in your home. She was always so happy and welcoming, and her forwarded emails back in the day always had us gathered around my mums computer for a hearty laugh. Her sense of humor and kind heart will always be remembered.

My mom, brother and I had the most wonderful visit staying with Miss Kitty, John and adam in 2006. I have such fond memories, and remember miss Kitty giving us an English spelling test while we were there. We always loved hearing all of her regular news and updates from my mom, and I have always heard so many amazing stories from their flying days together, which I always love hearing. My heart is broken for you all, sending you all my love and thoughts during this time.

  33. John, I’m so sorry and shocked to hear about Cathy!! Thank you for having her funeral online so many of us could attend. She had friends all over the world.
    She was so young and vibrant. I’ll always remember our good times meeting for lunch with other Delta wives. We also had great times working at Perfect North Slopes together! Loved the pot luck bonfires too. I will forever miss her great sense of humor and most of all friendship!!! Also Adam has grown into such a fine young man. Good job Cathy (and John ha). She was sooo proud of him and talked of him often.
