Cathy Ann Conner, 58, of Farnsworth Rd. in Spartanburg, passed away Tuesday, December 15, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home as a result of several illnesses.
Cathy was born in Buncombe County, NC and was the daughter of the late James and Adelaide Souther Conner. After the family moved to Spartanburg, SC, Cathy attended and graduated from Dorman High School and Spartanburg Community College in 1996.
After graduation, Cathy worked in Charleston, SC but moved back to Spartanburg to assist Adelaide (her mother) when she became terminally ill. Cathy worked as a paralegal with Perrin, Mann, Patterson Pressley law firm before finishing her career with Wofford College working as an Information Technician in the Administrative Office. She was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church in Spartanburg.
She is survived by her aunts and uncles, Betty Jean Lance and Jerry Lance of Charlotte and Shirley Conner Guinn of Black Mountain, James Souther of Fletcher, Harvey William Conner and Barbara Conner of Mills River, numerous cousins and her many friends in Spartanburg and co-workers at Wofford College.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 19, at 1:00 pm at the Hoopers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 71 Hoopers Creek Church Road in Fletcher, NC. The Rev Wayne Smith and Rev. Kevin Dalton will be officiating. Friends and family may visit and pay their respects to Cathy, that morning at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, 72 Long Shoals Road, Arden, NC.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the St James United Methodist Church, 213 N. Lanford Road in Spartanburg Saturday evening, December 19 at 5:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Cathy Conner Scholarship Fund, c/o The Wofford College Advancement Office, Wofford College, 429 N. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to St James United Methodist Church, 213 N. Lanford Rd. Spartanburg, SC 29301.

A good friend & a sweet person will be missed by the two of us as well as the many friends & family that loved Cathy. We feel much sorrow at her passing but are assured she is at peace & now feels no pain. Cathy was a friend we cherished.

Cathy was really, really a pleasure to work with at Wofford College. She always had a smile and a positive outlook on things. She will definitely be missed and where she’s at, even the streets are paved in gold. Prayers up for the family during this time.
