Cecil Earl Case, 79, of 49 Moonlight Ridge, Leicester, died Monday, November 1, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Case was born in Buncombe County and was the son of the late Loy Oliver and Ella Burnette Case. He was preceded in death by his son, Loy Earl Case, a sister Charlotte Allison and a brother Luther Case. Mr. Case was an Army veteran of WW II and retired after 37 years with Southern Railway. He was an Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed fishing and birdwatching.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Thelma Sue Whiteside Case; one daughter Teri Case Webb of Leicester; two sisters, Helen Austin and Betty Hyatt of Candler; two granddaughters, Laura Elizabeth Webb and Karen Laster and her husband Jeremy; and a great-grandson, Tanner Webb.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain. Burial will be in the Veterans Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Phillips will officiate.
His family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
I went to school with Terri and my father worked with Mr. Case. We’re sorry for your loss. Just know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
