Oakley ~ Cecil Fulton Creasman, 85 of 138 Porter Road, died Thursday, September 13, 2001 at a local nursing home.

A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Creasman was the son of the late Herbert Creasman and Ollie Bryant Creasman and the beloved husband of the late Irene Hart Creasman who died in 1994.

Mr. Creasman worked as a supervisor for Beacon Manufacturing and Winchester Mills, as well as serving as a pastor of several Freewill Baptist churches in the area. Mr. Creasman served in the Army Air Corps in World War II in the Asiatic Pacific theatre. He was awarded the Asiatic Theatre Campaign Medal, with two bronze service stars, Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross with several oak leaf clusters.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Vess and her husband, Ed, of Arden; two grandchildren, Tamala Bryson and her husband, Wally and Jonathan Vess; two sisters, Dorothy Creasman of Oteen and Roberta Enloe of Buckeye Cove; three great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Revs. Stanley Taylor and Stephen Summers officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Episcopal Churchyard. Military honors will be conducted by the Asheville High Junior ROTC unit.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
