Cecil William Hadaway, 84, of 65 McIntosh Lane, Candler, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the John F. Keever, Jr., Hospice Solace Center. Mr. Hadaway was born in Lanett, Alabama, and was a son of the late Ernest Albert and Hassie Lee Ruffin Hadaway. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Hassie Aline Adams and two brothers, Ernest Albert Hadaway and George Benjamin Hadaway. Mr. Hadaway was an Army veteran and was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church. He was a retired surgical technician with the VA Medical Center. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Cook Hadaway; two sons, Randy Lee Hadaway of Woodstock, GA, and Terry William Hadaway of Candler; a step-daughter, Tamara Smith of Nashville, TN; a sister, Bobbie Jean Walker of Waynesboro, GA; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Houston officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to New Morgan Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 370 Lake Drive, Candler, NC 28715.
