Charles Alderson Daniel

Charles Alderson Daniel, 87, of 118 Fairway Drive, Asheville, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Mission Hospital. A native of Chadbourn, NC, he was a son of the late Rev. George Milton Daniel and Adah V. Alderson Daniel Reid. He was a WWII veteran serving in the 9th Army Air Corps in Germany and France as a liason pilot. He retired in 1973 as general manager of Parnell-Martin Supply Co. A charter member of Groce United Methodist Church, he was very active in the building program and was a member of the Primetimers at the church. Mr. Daniel is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ella Brown Daniel; a son, Charles A. “Danny” Daniel, Jr. and his wife Marcia of Charlotte; two daughters, Nina Waddell and her husband Dan and Janet Branan and her husband Neal of Orangeburg, SC; seven grandchildren, Steven Daniel Waddell and wife Amy, Ellie W. Chandler and husband Steve and Philip Charles Waddell, all of Asheville, Allison Daniel and Brett Daniel of Charlotte, Andy Branan and Mary Grey Branan of Orangeburg, SC; four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Groce United Methodist Church with the Revs. Carl Johnson and Kris Bryant officiating. The family will greet friends in the church sanctuary following the service. Private graveside rites for the family will be at Green Hills Cemetery prior to the memorial service.
