Charles Bruce Hollifield, 56, of Leicester, died on Saturday, April 7, 2012, while fishing on Fontana Lake.
Mr. Hollifield was a native of Buncombe Co., and was a son of the late James "Bart" Hobert and Lorene White Hollifield. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Leman Elmer Hollifield.
Mr. Hollifield and his wife, Clara "CJ" Hollifield, were in love for 22 years, and married for 17 years. He is also survived by his daughters, Angela Beth Hollifield, Amanda Mae White, and Caitlin Rose White; son, Jonathan Mark Hollifield; son-in-law, Nathan Scott Fletcher, and future son-in-law, Mauricus Santel Fleming; sister, Deanna Sue Shelton; grandchildren, Cheyenne Storme Crawford, Seth Charles Harkins, Kacyn Alexander Lovette, and Mauri Serenity Fleming; nieces, Loralee Ellis, Kelly Jo Shelton; nephews, Nathan Leman Hollifield, and Macklin "Chase" Shelton; one special Aunt Judy; and his ex-wife, Vicki Lynn Passmore.
A graveside service for Mr. Hollifield will be on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.

Chuck b was and always will be one of the greatest men I have ever known. Never a harsh word, always a smile and sometimes a joke or two that never failed to make anyone smile. He treated everyone with the same respect and dignity that he never had to ask for because he carried more of it than most men. And I like to think that part of who I am today is because of the love that he showed me as his nephew. And at times I’m sure I didn’t make it easy for him to do so. And although he was never asked to do so he welcomed everyone into his home as family. So to chuck b I say thank you for all the wonderful memories, values and love you gave me. Forever your nephew, Robert ( forked toed ) a nickname he gave me when I was 12 or 13 yrs old.

Happy Birthday to my buddy in heaven!! I can’t believe it’s been ten years!! I miss you and think about you every single day!!! Kacyn talks about you allot and still asks about things he remembers even though he was only a lil guy! He just went to his first formal dance and I will say you would be so proud!! He is sweet and funny and smart and so very handsome!!! Although you are looking down on him from heaven, if you were still here with us he would be looking down on you (he is so tall) I think he got that from uncle Moe!!! My heart is heavy today as I remember my first husband.. Dad of my 2 children. A good person loved by many. Taken way to soon…ruled as a drowning in Lake Fontana. Today was his birthday. Life takes turns you are never ready for but I am so thankful for our many years together. Met in 8th grade dated through high school and married 2 days after my 18th birthday. He was a great man that stole my heart as a child. He gave me the gift of 2 beautiful children…Jonathan and Angie Hollifield and in turn 2 grandchildren Kacyn and Cheyenne. I wish he could have been here to see them grow and enjoy his years as Grampy. A great Dad and friend to all. Life throws some turns you don’t expect. He is loved and missed by his family and friends ..his legacy lives on in our hearts forever. Rest in peace and Happy Birthday in Heaven. We love you so much.
