Charles "Buck" Biddix, 89, of Deaverview Road, Asheville, died peacefully Friday, October 3, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Biddix was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Floyd Adam Biddix, Sr. and Minnie Matthews Biddix. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Loven Biddix, a daughter, Sandra Bloodworth, a sister, Gladys Goff, and a brother, Floyd "Bud" Biddix. Mr. Biddix served with distinction in the US Army during WW II. He was a member of the 1397th Engineering Construction Battalion, serving in Okinawa, the Aleutian Islands, and Saipan, and was awarded three Bronze Stars. He married the love of his life, Louise Loven, in 1947. They had one child, Sandra. Buck was a furniture maker by trade. He loved baseball and college basketball, especially the Atlanta Braves and the Carolina Tarheels. He was a lifelong member of Gashes Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. Surviving are a granddaughter, Vanessa Moore of Madison County; nieces and nephews, Carole Burnette of Jacksonville, FL, Kim Presley and husband, Stan, of Arden, Karen Hicks of Concord, NH, Christy Hicks of Asheville, Harold Butch Biddix and wife Shelia of Fletcher, Janet Goff of Old Fort, Mike Creasman and wife Revonda of Buncombe County, David Creasman and wife, Myrna, of Lake Mary, Florida, Dennis Creasman and wife, Carolyn, of Buncombe County and Steve Creasman of Buncombe County; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews, including, Daniel Ergle, Elizabeth Presley, David Presley, Jon Creasman, Sean Creasman, Bart Creasman, Janet McDevitt, Kevin Creasman, and Stephanie Wood. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. David Morgan officiating. Burial will be at Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. James Andrews and the staff of Biltmore Medical Associates, as well as the staff of CarePartners Home Health. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eliada Home for Children, PO Box 16708, Asheville, NC 28816.
