Charles "Chuck" Bernard Brockmeier, 71, of Candler, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at the Haywood House in Canton. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late William and Myrtle McFalls Brockmeier. He was also preceded in death by his sister Thelma, and by brothers Ed and Richard. Mr. Brockmeier was a graduate of Erwin High School. He was a running back for the Asheville Bears Football Team, and he was scouted by the LA Raiders. Surviving are his soul mate, Dean Jones; son, Chris Brockmeier (Angie) of SC; daughter, Tonya Kent; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister Jean, and brothers Terry and Bob. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leon Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Sky View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

    the service was beautiful, singing was wonderful, and Leon message was one of the best I have heard. my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  6. Chuck meant a lot to me. We played ball together. We ran around together. We used to go to Atlanta and watch the Braves play, quite often. I’m so sorry I missed the visitation and service because of my health, it wasn’t possible. Praying for the family.
