Asheville ~ Charles Edward “Pawie” Buckner, 82, of Burnsville Hill Road passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. He was born in Buncombe County and was the son of the late Arcemus and Edna Piercy Buckner and was preceded in death by a daughter, Florence Marie Blevins and his sisters and brothers. He was a self employed painter and wall paper hanger and was a member of Woodfin Baptist Church. He was affectionately known as “Pawie” to his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Lee Solesby; a daughter, Teresa McMinn; grandchildren, Bobby E. McMinn and Xylina McAbee and husband, Jeff; great-grandchildren, Kelcey McMinn, Cori McAbee, McKenna McMinn, Sydney McAbee, Hagan and Laci McMinn; step great - granddaughter, Felecia Nyuen all of Asheville. A funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home East Asheville on Tunnel Road with the Rev. Tommy Crowe and Rev. Jason Woon officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center, P.O. 25338 Asheville, NC 28813.

  3. Uncle Charles could always make light of a situation and make everyone laugh. That was one of the many gifts he shared with us, and he will be greatly missed. He was a very special person. Love you guys.
