Charles Edward Cook, 81, of 96 Bingham Road, Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 29, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
A native of Samara, Philippines, he was a son of the late George Edward and Anna Alday Cook. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Veola Pinelee Cook, who died in 1986 and by two sisters, Josephine King and Rosanda Pickering. He was retired from the VA Hospital after 29 years of service. A WWII veteran, he served in Japan as a skilled marksman and was of the Catholic faith.
He will be greatly missed by his second wife, Rama Jean Miller Cook; two daughters, Vickie Cook and Mikki Ray of Barnardsville; two sons, Jeremy Cook of Maggie Valley and Eric Boone of Asheville; six grandsons and two granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Marshall and David Crowder officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
