Charles F. Noblitt

January 6, 1929 ~ November 25, 2010
Resided in:
Asheville, NC
Charles Frank "Charlie" Noblitt, 81, went to his heavenly home Thursday, November 25, 2010.
Charlie was born January 6, 1929, in Bessemer City, the son of the late Russell Noblitt and the late Pearl Noblitt Kiser. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clyde Noblitt and sisters, Mildred Russell and Geneva Hunter.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 45 years, Catherine Rhame Noblitt; daughters, Caroline Noblitt Atkinson and husband, Colin, of Mebane, and Suzanne Noblitt Buesing and husband, Leslie, of Hillsborough; six grandchildren, Broockylon Buesing of Burlington, Brittian Buesing of Gainesville, FL, Catie, Will, and Hannah Atkinson of Mebane, and Zachary Buesing of Hillsborough; a sister, Margaret Sigmon of Stanley and a brother, Robert Noblitt and wife Betty, of Bessemer City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends whom Charlie considered family.
Although Charlie was born in Bessemer City and traveled throughout the country, once he found Asheville he considered it his true home and enjoyed its beauty for over 50 years.
Charlie was an Army veteran and was one of the first employees of A-B Tech, where he was the Chairman of the Automotive Department until his retirement in 1992. During his tenure, he was responsible for facilitating jobs for many young men in the automotive field.
He was a faithful member of Acton United Methodist Church.
For those who were lucky enough to know Charlie knew that his love for his family was second only to his love for the Lord. His spirit will live on forever through his many friends and family.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Acton United Methodist Church with the Revs. Rick Mills and Jeane Walker, and Mr. James Whitted officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

Words cannot express our grief for all of the family. We are here if you need us. God Bless you all..
My condolences go out to the family. Charlie was a good man. I was one of his students at AB Tech, and he got me a job at a local dealership and got my career started. I’ll never forget his laugh. Charlie will be missed, but we’ll meet again soon.
My prayers go out to the family and friends.
Catherine, Caroline, & Susanne.
I’m going to miss my buddy sooooo much, but we know where Charlie is today without question. He was such a wonderful man that loved his family more than anyone could imagine. He has so many friends that feel as I do about him. We will miss him but we are here for you. We love you and we’re sorry we can’t be with you now, but we’ll be in touch

I used to work for Mr. Noblett when my late cousin, Cecil Briggs, was a partner. I was very sorry to read about this and want to extend my condolences to his family.
Catherine, Caroline, and Suzanne, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I have many fond memories of Charlie.
Mr Noblitt was a great inspiration to my professional career. A very good man and instructor. May GOD bless and comfort us all.
FOR THE NOBLITT FAMILY – Am so sorry to read of Charlie’s passing – I became acquainted with him when he first moved to Asheville years ago.
He was a good friend and later a good Husband.
We were married eleven years but things did not work out for us – I was so proud of him when he got the job at ABTech. He worked so hard and his students and their families liked him very much – I was happy for him when he married Catherine and had his two daughters – thru the years we kept in touch, and how proud he was of that first grandchild.
My love and prayers go out to all of you at this time. GOD BLESS and I am sure he will as he has thru the years.
As we have shared with other friends, we believe Charlie Noblitt was a ‘national treasure’ because of his skills and knowledge. We came to know him when we took our car to him for repair, but found a friend. We will deeply miss him.
Dearest Catherine and Family,
We are so sorry for the loss of Charlie. He will be greatly missed but if there if anything that we can do to lighten your chore, please let us know. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers.
Catherine and family,
We are very saddened to learn of Charlie’s death. It had been a long time since we had seen you guys, but we will always be grateful for your pushing and help in getting our middle son, Brandon, through AB Tech. May God’s peace surround you in the coming days.
Dearest Catherine,
My heart aches for you. Let your many friends and wonderful family support you in the difficult days ahead–but always hang on to laughter. You will remain in my special thoughts and prayers.
Much love, Eva Ann(Orr)McLean-Kendrick

Catherine, Family, and Friends,
I was so sad to hear of Charlie’s death, but I’m absolutely sure that he’s now in the safe arms of his Lord and Savior.
He was such a colorful guy; how could anyone who knew him ever forget him? I was his student at A-B Tech from 1988 – 1990, and we came to be very good friends. Many times I’d stay after classes and help him in the shop all afternoon. Sometimes his friends Joe and Dick (Green) would come by, and the four of us would go to a late lunch together; those guys were real ‘characters’, like Charlie, and we’d always have lots of laughs.
Charlie was always a ‘Hero’ kind of guy, strong and silent type, who had a strong sense of right and wrong, and always stuck to his beliefs. He would quietly listen, . . . then calmly give you his considered opinion on the matter. I learned a lot about the responsibilities of being a man from him.
He would always ‘light up’ when he talked about his family, . . . Catherine and the girls. It was obvious that he was very much in love with his beautiful wife, and strongly protective, proud, and loving of his girls. They were always ‘No. 1’ in his life.
Sadly, I hadn’t seen him in over a year, but he was often in my mind, and my prayers. I brought him a couple of tools that I knew he needed a while back. He still loved to solve mechanical problems and fix those old cars.
I miss him, and I always will. He was my teacher, mentor, and friend. God, bless him, his family, and his friends.
Until we meet again . . .
Gary Cody, Swannanoa, NC
Dear Catherine,
Sorry to hear about Charles. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.
My apologies for this late comment. Mr. Noblitt (he will always be Mr. Noblitt to me) was my instructor during the ‘82-‘83 year.
He taught me more than I had previously known as an aircraft mechanic in the military.
The knowledge he passed along to me greatly helped me in my career after school and allowed me to retire comfortably at 57 years old.
I’ll always be grateful for his assitance, encouragement and insightfulness that allowed me to have a successful career.
Godspeed, Mr. Noblitt.
