  20. Dear Linda, Jeff and Mike: I am very sad to hear of Mr. Ford’s death. My 8-year old daughter, Carolyn, is weeping this morning…she loved him! She especially loved going to McDonald’s with my Dad, Glenn and meeting with the ‘Old Geezers’ – of which Mr. Ford was an honorary member! She would beg to go to breakfast with them, and she always spoke so fondly of Mr. Ford.

My fond memories of your family, growing up with horses, riding and participating in 4-H are some I will never forget. The last time I saw Mr. Ford was when we met with him and my Dad, Glenn to pick up my daughter early this year in Gaffney. We sat in a Burger King, and he kept us entertained with his funny stories and warmth and generosity. I know my father is grieving the loss of one of his best friends today, and I am grieving the loss of a legacy. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Know that Mr. Ford made a difference in my life and the life of my daughter, as well as everyone he came in touch with. We will truly miss him.

  36. Linda:

Ray and Daisy Crepeau called me Thursday morning to tell me that Charlie had passed away. I felt an emptiness.

I was so blessed to have Charlie working with me in emergency communications while I headed them up back home. It was a privilege to work with him with WCARS. But I was especially lucky to have him as a friend. Hearing him tell stories of growing up, stories about my mother in those days, and then having him as part of my life are memories that make me smile. He was like one of those distant relatives that comes back and helps make your life more complete for me. Thank you for sharing him with me and so many others.
