Charles L. Webb, 78, of 297 Dix Creek #1, Leicester, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at his home. Mr. Webb was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Lonzo and Hattie Cox Webb. He was also preceded in death by a son, Nick Webb, who died March 14, 2007. He was retired from American Enka and was also known throughout the community as the lawn mower repairman. He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Campbell and Susan Webb and two sons, David Webb and wife, Sheri, and Tim Webb and wife, Regina; grandchildren, Chantell Garland and husband, Ronnie, Jason Webb and wife, Charity, Cody Webb and wife, Claire, Amanda and Jesse Johnson, Jeremy and Casey Webb, Josie Mundy and husband, Paul, Logan Webb, Cali Webb, Bailey, Madison, and McKenna Scruggs; great-grandchildren, Chrissy, Allison and Trevor Garland, Lili and Kobe Mundy and Eric Webb; one brother, J.R. Webb and wife, Ruth; and one sister, Edna Meeker and husband, Paul. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Marie Carter of Arden. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Private interment will be at a later date at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.   3. First met Charles when he and James Chambers were trying to keep the mowers going that I was always breaking. They would always say ‘ what have you broken now’ when I drove up to the shop. Later when James died, Charles would do the same. He would even come to my house. We would talk about our Grand-children, especially Amanda whom I had known at Erwin and Ingles.
    Charles was truly a wonderful PERSON. he was always friendly and helpful. I have always thought the world of him. The world has suffered a great lose.

    I am so sorry to hear about your grandpa. I can still remember him driving in his little truck to pick you up from cheerleading practice. He is in a better place now and he will always be watching over you.

REST IN PEACE UNCLE CHARLES.YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED.I HAVE SOME REALLY GOOD MEMORIES FROM CHILDHOOD OF STAYING THERE AND ENJOYING THE COUNTRY LIVING AND FISHING AT THE LAKE OR RUNNING THE COUNTRYSIDE.I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR DELICIOUS STRAWBERRIES AND THINK OF YOU WHEN I EAT THEM.YOU TAUGHT KIDS THE LIFE LESSONS AND WAYS OF LIFE THAT THEY COULD NEVER LEARN FROM A TEXTBOOK,AND IT WILL CARRY ON THRU MANY MORE GENERATIONS OF YOUR FAMILY. We have shared a lot of good times and memories over the years, an your family is our family and if you need anything please let us know. We all know that Charles had away about him that made everyone love him no matter what was going on in life, that is what made him so special, and all the years that have come and gone Charles will always be remember in our minds and hearts, i will never forget the times we all shared together when all the grandkids were at my house.
