Charles Richard Shipman

A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Edward Monroe and Christine Wilson Shipman. He was also preceded in death by a brother Bobby Shipman. Mr. Shipman was a member of Asheville Wesleyan Church and the Moose Club of Asheville. He was owner/operator of Shipman Florring and enjoyed trips to Cherokee Lake and fishing in Tennessee.

Survivors include his wife Leslie Johnson Shipman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gwen and Gene Marshbanks of Asheville, Peggy and Wade Souther of Fletcher; nephew, Russell Shipman and his wife Shannon of Asheville and their children Brandon and Hayden; niece, Michelle Reynolds and her husband Todd of York, SC and their son Andrew; niece Sharon Lipe and her husband Ralph of Fletcher and there daughter Kelly Cook.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Bethesda Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Glen Weaver officiating.

His family will receive friends 7-8:30 Wednesday March 21, 2001, at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue.
