Chasteen B. Blankenship Ledford, 82, of Candler, died on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Madison Co., NC, Mrs. Ledford was a daughter of the late George Washington and Carrie Mooneyham Blankenship. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Herbert Ledford, Sr.; and sons, Thomas Earl Ledford and James Dean Ledford. Mrs. Ledford retired from Square D. She loved spending her free time bowling at Sky Lanes and also quilting. She was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church. Mrs, Ledford is survived by her son, Paul H. Ledford, Jr., and wife Marcia Vaughn Ledford; daughter, Terri Morgan; sisters, Betty Buckner and Nina Davis; brothers, Chan, Don, and Carroll Blankenship; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A graveside service for Mrs. Ledford will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Bryan Buchanan officiating. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Memorials may be made to the Sunrise Baptist Church Youth Program, 419 Deaverview Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.

  1. I was blessed to have such a wonderful sister as you in my life.Given the age difference of nearly twenty years ,you were more like a mother to me,after the death of our dear mother.I thank you for that,and appreciate everything you have done for me.
