Christine Irelan Satterfield, 68, of 21 Rodgers Place, died Thursday, August 31, 2000, at a local hospital. A native of Buncombe County , she was a daughter of the late Arthur Claude and Alma Sue Brown Irelan. She was retired from Harrison Publishing Company and previously worked for Broadway Hosiery and Clyde Savings and Loan. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Lee Stophel and three brothers, Calvin, Waymon and Leonard B. Irelan. She is survived by her husband, Edgar “Lee” Satterfield; two sons, Eddie and John Arthur Satterfield, both of Asheville; seven grandchildren, Josiah, Jesse, Jeremiah, Jordan, Jasmine, Jason and Danielle. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Roberts Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 7-8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Master’s Plan of West Asheville Baptist Church, 926 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
