Christine Masters Nave, 76, of 47 Spooks Branch Road, Asheville, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at her son’s home in Asheville.
Mrs. Nave was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Fred Patton and Mattie Palmer Masters. She was married to J.C. Nave who died in 1996 and was also preceded in death by a sister, Stella Miles, who died in 1978. She was retired from the Southeastern Forestry Experiment Station. She was a member of the Paul Nichols Orchestra and participated in various local music activities. She was a member and former organist at Abernethy United Methodist Church. Her life’s love was music and she gave joy to a lot of people through her music.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas W. Robertson of Asheville and Neil W. Robertson of Leicester; one sister, Janice M. Atwood of Southfield, MI; one brother, Stanley A. Masters of Asheville; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry R. Inman, Jr., officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home and in lieu of flowers, request that memorials be made to Asheville Kidney Center, 10 McDowell Street, Asheville, NC 28801.
