It is with great sadness to announce the unexpected passing of Christopher Kendall Rowden at Advent Health on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.
He was born January 18, 1966 in Asheville and was a resident of Flat Rock. He was a graduate of Warren Wilson College and was associated with Carolina Landscapes.
He is survived by his parents, Joe and Joyce Almon Rowden of Fletcher; sister, Missy Lindsey of Asheville, and his companion Rebecca Burnette of Flat Rock.
He was a loving and devoted son, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him..
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with burial to follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) or to Eliada Homes (Eliada.org).

The children, board, and staff of Eliada were saddened to hear of Christopher’s passing. We are deeply grateful to the family for including Eliada in the memorials. Please know that we are holding Christopher’s friends, family, and loved ones in love and light.

My condolences and prayers to the Rowden family. Kenny was like a brother to me growing up in Bent Creek. I was lucky to have him as a friend through the early years.
So sad to hear that my brother has passed. We loved Kenny, and the world has lost a good one. Foot / sock is what we used to say to each other, on double plays. He was my shortstop at Warren Wilson College, and I played second base. Our prayers are with you.
Kenny was like a brother to me at Warren Wilson. We had some great times and there was always laughter when he was around. My condolences and prayers to his family. RIP my friend.

My sincere condolences to you all. Though it has been far too many years, I remember you all with great fondness. I still have a family picture in which Kenny is wearing my dad’s airline hat. All of you had come to visit in Wilmington. May God bless you and give you peace and comfort.

So sorry to hear of the loss of my dear friend. Our friendship spanned beyond coach and player on the baseball field to friends and coworkers post college. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
You were such a good friend to me as we went through school together. We had lots of good times playing as kids in our neighborhood. I was saddened to here about your passing.

Very sorry to hear of Kenny’s passing. I really only remember him as your younger brother whom we referred to as little Kenny. Sure hated to hear the news about his passing. You will be in our prayers! We love you all!
