Christopher Matthew Taylor left us on July 28, 2014. He was born in Asheville on February 7, 1999, and was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County.
Christopher was a rising sophomore at Enka High School and a member of the football team.
From an early age, he was an avid participant in sports with the Hominy Valley Youth League, Enka Middle School, and Enka High School. He was baptized as a believer in Christ and member of Pole Creek Baptist Church in 2005.
Christopher possessed a competitive nature, a kind spirit, and a ready smile. While he was with us he enriched our lives and made us better. We love him dearly and will miss him with all our hearts.
He is survived by his parents, Calvin and La-Tisha Hensley Taylor; sister, Courtney Taylor; brother, Mitchell Taylor; paternal grandparents Frank and Rosa Taylor; maternal grandmother Katherine P. Hensley; maternal great-grandmother Gratis B. Hensley; aunts and uncles, David and Freda Wells, Gary and Yolanda Parker, Doug and Diane Taylor, and Vada Sprouse. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Merrill Hensley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Pole Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Thurman and the Rev. Dean Rice officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Enka High School Football Program, 475 Enka Lake Rd., Candler, NC 28715.

My heart is so heavy for you guys for the loss of one of the greatest boys I have ever known. I have always told Chris he looked and acted just like my grandson Jake. He had a smile all the time just like Jake, he would always laugh and say really Miss C am I really like your grandson and I would tell him him yes you are my adopted grandson and he would give me that big smile. God truly has a great Angle to look after us. We can hold him in our hearts and remember the good times which was always. He was a great kid one I loved so much.
