Hendersonville, NC ~ Clarence Gustuv Riske, 89, of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 13, 2007 at the Elizabeth House after a courageous battle with cancer. Clarence was born in Symco, WI to the late Gustuv and Amelia Riske. He retired from Wisconsin Public Service in Oshkosh, WI and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Pacific during WWII. He and his wife moved to Hendersonville in 1989. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eileen Drabus Riske; a daughter, Barb Kirtley and her husband Doug of Horse Shoe, NC; a brother, Leonard Riske of Manawa, WI; two grandsons, Scott Wischow and his wife Melisa and Troy Wischow and his wife Krissy, all of Hendersonville and five great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 17th, 2007 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with Pastor John Qualmann officiating In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Clarences’ memory to Living Savior Lutheran Church Building Fund, 301 Overlook Road, Asheville, NC 28803 or to the Elizabeth House, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
