My memories of Uncle Clarence go back to when I was a little girl and his sister-Reba Taylor-my mom, along with my Dad would bring us up to Gerton to visit Grandma Pinky. Uncle Clarence always came to visit with us too. He and Aunt Evelyn could not have treated us any better and they always showed us how happy they were to see us-all 7 children along with Mom and Dad.
Many years later when I came
to live in the Mountains and was all by myself, they were always there for me, they helped me through a difficult time which I will always be grateful. They became my family away from home and have remained always there for me. I could never repay all the love and kindness they gave to me.
Although Mom is now in a Nursing Home, she still has a special place in her heart for Uncle Clarence. He was always like a brother to Dad, they had so many happy and funny memories of growing up together, getting into all kinds of mischief as little boys do, playing tricks on each other. What a joy it was to sit and listen to them when they got together. We would laugh until we almost cried at their tales. Although Dad’s health and Uncle Clarence’s health prevented both from getting to see each other for a while, they were always concerned about each other.
He was always there, so kind and giving, for all his family–Evelyn, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and all of his many friends. Every one that knew him, loved him. He had a natural kindness that is very rare. His love of Evelyn and hers for him was a tribute and an example of what true love should be. Evelyn was there for him through his illness, always caring and loving, she treated him with kindness and dignity, always there for him through it all.
He will be missed by so many but we all know that the Lord has just received a wonderful angel and that Uncle Clarence is now well and happy and waiting to see us all again. He was a one of a kind.
He is dearly missed and loved.

My heart goes out to Aunt Evelyn and all of her family. My family sends their deep shared remorse and sadness when we lose a loved one, especially when he is family. I talked to Uncle Clarence a couple of years ago when I was visiting my dad’s (Woodson) house. I called Uncle Clarence about researching some of the Bradburn ancestry in the Ashville area. Our blessings and prayers are with all of your family. May God Bless You all, and give you some measure of peace that will come with time. Sincerely, Jimmy Wayne Bradburn

Mrs. Bradburn,
I work with your niece, Lisa Scott, in Columbia and you and I spoke on the phone a number of years ago when I was in Asheville. Lisa spoke so highly of Clarence and you and I am very sorry for your loss. I hope the time with your family over the next few days will bring a measure of comfort to you but more so, I pray the Lord’s comfort and a lifetime of great memories of Clarence will sustain you in the weeks and months ahead.
Sincerely, Jeff Koenig
