Fletcher ~ Clarence M. Pressley, 68, of Fanning Bridge Road, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000 in a local hospital. He was a native of Henderson County where he lived most of his life. He was the son of the late George A. “Gus” Pressley, Sr. and Mamie McGraw Pressley. He was also predeceased by a brother, George Pressley. He was a truck driver for most of his life, and was most recently employed by SSEACO. He attended Hooper’s Creek Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of the VFW Post #5206 and the AMVETS. He is survived by his wife, Brenda McTindal Pressley; one daughter, Debi Miller and her husband Peter of Elmira, New York; one step son, Darren Holmes of Fletcher; two sisters, Betty Robinson of Arden and Ann Moore of Fletcher; two brothers, Billy Pressley of Fletcher and James R. Pressley of Asheville; one granddaughter, Lindsay Miller; also numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 24th at Hooper’s Creek Baptist Church in Fletcher, with the Reverend Lawrence Rhodes and Reverend Donald Birchfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 PM Thursday at the Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, where the body will remain until being placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Billy and Nancy Johnston at 470 Jeffress Road, Mills River. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3109 Poplarwood Court, Suite 125, Raleigh, NC 27604-1043.
