Claude Allen "Abb" Clement, Sr.

Claude Allen "Abb" Clement, Sr., 71, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 17, 2019. A native of Buncombe Co., Abb was a son of the late William Harley and Blanche Etta Williams Clement. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Mae Clement Johnston, and a brother, Rev. Billy Robert Clement. Abb retired as Vice President of Clement Paint, a family owned and operated business since 1969. Abb was known by many in the construction trade, and was well liked by all who knew him. Abb spent his spare time fixing vehicles, fishing, hunting, and enjoying all his family and his little furry friends. Mr. Clement leaves behind his loving wife and soulmate of 54 years, Dorothy Thomas Clement; seven children, Claude Allen Clement, Jr. (Kay), Freida Jones (Gary), Veronica Stamey (Shoani), Susan Sitton (Mark), Mary Clement (Abbie & Harley), Jessica Bradley, and Jamie Goodman; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Lorraine Shaft and Delores Ann Thomas; and brother, William H. Clement, Jr. Funeral services for Mr. Clement will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, at Crossroads Church of Asheville, with Revs. Wade Zachary and Ronald Dodson officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue.
