Arden~ Clifton Brown Smith, II, 64, of Chestnut Ridge Road, died Wednesday, August 4, 2004 in a local hospital.
A native of Kingsport, TN, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Clifton Brown Smith and Carolyne Harrison Smith.
Mr. Smith graduated with a BS degree from the University of Tennessee and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He worked in the trucking industry as a salesman for over 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lucile Norman Smith of the home; a son, Clifton Brown Smith, III of Tulsa, OK; a daughter, Trudie Lucile Kuka and her husband, Tony of Albany, GA; a sister, Suzanne Smith Greene of Knoxville, TN and an uncle, Sydney "Nick" Alston Harrison and his wife, Jean of Cullman, AL.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with Rev. Perry Brindley officiating.

Our family was very saddened to learn of Sonny’s death. Our father, G. M. Harrell, and also my brother Guston, worked at the service station for Sonny’s father. He was always a very nice young man. As a former classmate I remember Clifton as a young man. As I get older, I think I appreciate my childhood friends even more.
