Clinton E. “Mac” McElveen, 84, of Asheville, died Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at the VA Medical Center.
Mac, born in Asheville, was the son of the late Robert and Esther Beasley and was married to the late Viola (Cargile) McElveen. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Harriett McElveen Thomas.
An Army veteran of WW II, Mac was a self-employed auto upholsterer with a passion for vintage car restoration. He was a member of the Studebaker Drivers Club, Hupmobile Club, and the Fletcher House of Prayer.
Surviving are nieces Suzanne Reegler of Palos Verdes, CA, Joanie Johnson of Columbus, OH, and Nancy Monette of Royalston, MA. Also surviving are two great nieces and a great nephew and two great-great nieces and a great-great nephew.
Visitation will begin Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Arnold Vess officiating. Burial will be at Ashelawn Gardens.
A reception for family and friends will follow the services at the Fletcher House of Prayer.
