Clyde Ledford, 69, died Friday, October 4, 2002, at his home at 3 Wild Rose Lane, Candler. Mr. Ledford was a son of the late Lee and Minnie Ledford and was married to the late Rachel Ledford. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. He is survived by his ex-wife, Dorothy Ledford; three daughters, Joyce “Jody” Fields of Candler, Kathy Messer of Maggie Valley and Barbara Ledford of Marshall; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two sisters and a brother. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue will announce the arrangements. Interment will be Monday at the State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of VFW Post 891 and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. He is survived by his ex-wife, Dorothy Ledford; three daughters, Joyce “Jody” Fields of Candler, Kathy Messer of Maggie Valley and Barbara Ledford of Marshall; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ernestine Nash and Aretha Norton and a brother Ivan Griffin, all of Weaverville. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Monday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Black Mountain, with the Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. Burial will follow in the Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and at other times will be at the home of the daughter, Joyce Fields 3 Wild Rose Lane, Candler.
