Clyde Norman Barnett, 85, died Thursday, November 10, 2011 at his residence. A native of Madison County, he was son of the late Lattie and Elizabeth Chandler Barnett. Clyde worked with the Ford Motor Company as a machine operator and was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of Trinity of Fairview. Clyde was always laughing and was loved by all. He enjoyed telling jokes and had a great sense of humor. He loved nature and enjoyed his woodworking and gardening. Surviving is his loving wife of sixty one years, Zetta Roberts Barnett , a son, Terry Michael Barnett and his wife, Beth of Asheville as well as three sisters, Tressalee Ramsey of Weaverville, Cordelia Harrison of Maryland and Christine Franklin of Madison County. Clyde is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Scott Gregory Barnett and his wife, Jill of Arden and Michael Donovan Barnett of Tumwater, Washington. Funeral services for Mr. Barnett will be held 2:00pm Sunday at Trinity of Fairview with the Revs. Stacey and Steve Harris officiating. The men of the Sunshine Sunday School class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will be at 12 noon Monday at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00pm Saturday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice P.O. Box 25338 Asheville, N.C. 28813.
