Clyde Thomas Gasperson, Jr. went to be with the Lord on March 21st, 2014. He was born on October 29, 1925 to Clyde Gasperson, Sr. and Mable Rhodes Gasperson. Clyde made his home in Skyland, North Carolina. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and later owned a fuel oil business. He is survived by his children Pete Gasperson (Pat), Pamela G. Staunko (Bill), Keith Gasperson, and Sarah G. Williams; stepchildren Reece Stone (Tracy), Mary E. Gasaway (Rocky), Cary Stone (April), and Mark A. Stone; siblings Audrey G. Craig, Cecily G. Hart (Stuart), and Beth G. Moede (Roy); ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Lucille G. Shook and brother David F. Gasperson. Dad was a patriot who worked hard and instilled those values into his children. During his final days, Dad exhibited the courage and tenacity he had shown his whole life. He was our beloved Clyde, Brother, Daddy, Pap, PopPop, Papa Clyde, and friend. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministries' fuel oil assistance program, or to a hospice of your choice.
