Craig J. Clifton, 85, of 15 Garrison Road, Weaverville, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the Brian Center in Weaverville. Mr. Clifton was born in Decatur, IL and was a son of the late Murray and Gertrude Kruse Clifton. He served two separate enlistments with the US Army during WW II, stationed in the Philippines and Japan. He was a former machinist with the Clinton Corporation in Barnardsville and was former manager of Connie Fashions. Among other hobbies he was an avid woodcarver and had been featured in the Asheville Citizen-Times for his craftsmanship with doll houses. He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Farr Clifton; one daughter, Sandra Letterman and her husband Roger of Asheville and two grandchildren, Mark Letterman and his wife Crystal of Candler and Alicia Letterman of Asheville. Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with the Rev. Bobby Benson officiating. Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

  1. I am so sorry to hear of the death of a good friend and co worker. I worked at Kentown and Connie Fashion with Craig for several years and always considered him a very good friend. My love to his wife and family for their great loss.

  2. hey papaw i know this is’nt to you but i feel like you might get it any way.this is a way for me to feel like i am talking to you. i miss you so much i am sorry i did’nt come and see you.it really hurt to see you that way. i hope you are not mad at me!i talk to nana quite a bit know. i really miss being little and going to see yall all of the time. remember the time i cut my finger widaling? HA HA! it scarred nana but it did’nt hurt. i wish i was’nt so stupped and could remember every second of my time with you like you could but i am sure you will remind me when i see you agin. i love you papaw
