Crystal Ann Bennett, 21, of 26 Mountainberry Lane, died on Monday, September 26, 2005 at her residence after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. Ms. Bennett was a native of Buncombe County and the daughter of David and Janice Wilkie Bennett of Fairview. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Billy E. Wilkie and maternal grandmother, Lottie D. Wilkie and attended A.C. Reynolds High School. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Jack and Delores Bennett of Arden; brother, Christopher Bennett and sister-in-law, Tiffany both of Fairview ; several aunts and uncles and the special love of her life, Timothy Dockery of Fairview. A funeral service will be held 7:00 P.M. Thursday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with the Rev. Perry Brindley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338 Asheville, NC 28813.

    I can’t even begin to tell you how very, very sorry I am to hear about Crystal. I can’t believe she’s gone, but I know she’s in a much better place without the pain she had felt for so long. I know nothing I can say will make things any easier for you at this time, but please know that Bob and I loved Crystal very much and our love and prayers are with you at this very painful time.

  4. While we have never met, my heart goes out to you. My son had a dear friend who also passed away at the age of 21 after battling leukemia. Her memory has not faded just as I am sure your daughter’s also will not. I see from her picture she was a beautiful young lady. I know there are no words to ease your loss, but I did want you to know someone is thinking of your family.

  5. I am very sorry to hear about your loss. I knew crystal in high school. It broke my heart to hear she was sick. But now she not in any pain or suffering. She now in gods hands. She will be missed. I know the feeling on losing a child. I coundnt image losing one at 21. Mine was 3 months. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers. Take one day at a time.

  6. I met you and your family in room 1011 at St. Joesph Hospital. I was the housekeeper who used to work at Steelcase. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Crysal. I know she was a very special person just by seeing how you much you loved her in the hospital. My family and I will keep your special family in our prayers. Don’t give up, keep your eyes upon the LORD and HE will guide you thru this time.

  7. She would always stand at the fence and call, ‘Lissa, will you come play with me.’ Sissy was the only one left in the neighborhood that loved to play dolls besides me. Long hours of playing school with our dolls and eating baby food fruit dessert is a cherished memory of mine. May the Lord bless you and comfort you always. Love in Christ, Melissa Moore Briggs

  10. We have so many beautiful memories of growing up together in Eastwood; summers and snow days, school holidays and timeless friendships. We were truly blessed that ‘Sissy’ was part of them.

  18. Crystal always made a laugh …She was a sweet girl and I worked with her never knowing she was sick.. She always made a joke to brighten someones day I am sooo sorry to hear about your loss she is making heaven a very special place

  23. I used to be very close friends with Crystal. I used to go swimming with her at Royal Pines and I will never forget our memories. I am also Jessica Mullens step daughter and I just wanted to let you know that I was sorry and you all are in my thoughts and prayers. I am very sorry Chris, I lost Brian when I was young and I miss him alot. I will always remember Crystal and our good times when we were in school. Keep your head up and things will get easier.

    My thought and prayers are with you and the family. I seems like just yesterday Sissy and I would play together every Saturday. Running back and forth between Jack and Dee’s and my house. The time has flown by and we have grown up but I still think of those days and the fun we had. I’ve have thought of you all often during these hard times. I wish I could be there with you all but know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and that Sissy is in a better place. If there is anything you need please let me know.

  25. Crystal was a wonderful person and will be missed by all who knew her. She always had a smile on her face and brought happiness whereever she was. I want your family to know that we are here for you no matter what you need. I hope you all remember us I worked with you Janice at Ingles years ago. And then we spent lots of time with her when she was hanging around with her good friends Marcus Branks(my younger cousin)and Evan Merrill and then she and Tim would come to our house from time to time.

  26. Dear Jan and David, Bif and I lived at the top of the hill on Eastridge Ct. Sissy and Chris were often vising our three girls.Lisa,Jennifer and Veronica.Vron is who called and told us. She found out from Shannon (Brown)Moorefield.My most vivid memory of Sissy is when she helped us move into A’ville. I think I may even have a pic of her INSIDE a cabinet helping us clean. She was so special… What can be said thru the tears. She is at peace. God will comfort all of you. Love from the Butcher’s.
