  2. I was a relatively new teacher when I met Cumi during one the many NCAE meetings I attended. She helped me by her caring ways and helpful advise.

  3. I was sad to learn of Cumi’s passing.
She was always a friend to me when I taught in the Buncombe County School system. We served on several NCEA and NEA committees. I always enjoyed being around Cumi.

She touched hundreds of young people and her legacy will continue for years to come.

Please know that the family is in my thoughts and prayers.

  5. I was saddened to hear of Mrs. Grant’s passing. She was one of my teachers at Sand Hill Elementary in the 8th grade in 1967-68. She was a dedicated teacher. I will always have fond memories of her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

  6. Don,
You have been such an inspiration to others for your caring ways that the world is a better place because of the way you have ministered to Cumi. May God bless you and your closest friends and relatives as you grieve over Cumi’s death. There is one thing I know for sure about her; she loved you. She always mentioned your kindnesses to her whenever I saw her prior to her having to be placed in Aston Park. I visited her several times there and realize that you had no choice but to place her there or somewhere that she could receive around the clock care.

My heart goes out to you in your loss.

    Love,

    Judy Griffin
